An officer fired over an alleged sexual assault is hired as deputy chief at $100,000

The office hired Michael Paige, a former Philadelphia police officer, as a deputy chief at $100,000 a year. Paige had joined the force in 1990 and accumulated 100 days of suspensions; he was terminated in 2007 after being charged with forcing a man to perform a sex act in Fairmount Park. He was acquitted in criminal court and later lost a civil lawsuit over the incident.

Spokesperson Teresa Lundy declined to discuss the hiring beyond confirming, in an email, that Paige works for the office.
