Court denies the sheriff’s motion to avoid testifying about sheriff sales
Sheriff Bilal moved for a protective order to avoid testifying at the special-master hearing. Her attorney argued that sheriff sales — one of the office’s three core functions — are “not within her unique personal knowledge.”
Judge Paula Patrick denied the motion the same morning, writing that “Bilal and any other relevant parties shall appear” the following day and would “be expected to testify if necessary.”
