A second take-home vehicle, an unmarked Dodge Charger with lights and siren, is stolen

A sheriff’s deputy’s take-home vehicle — an unmarked Dodge Charger equipped with emergency lights and a siren — was stolen. It was last seen in late September, parked on the 500 block of South 63rd Street.

It was the office’s second lost take-home vehicle in fourteen months. At the time the theft was reported, the August 2024 Expedition crash remained unresolved at fifteen months, with no charges filed and the driver never disclosed. “There is no new information I can provide at this time,” spokesperson Teresa Lundy said by email. A police spokesperson said the Expedition investigation remained open; the sheriff’s spokesperson declined to comment on the Charger.
